Thank you to the Sun newspapers for publishing my column on the Southwest Light Rail line. Here is the chart that shows two bus rapid transit options (BRT1 and BRT2) as the most cost effective options for the corridor. (CEI is Cost Effectiveness Index) The current “locally preferred alternative, LRT 3A, not only is the least effective but also falls below the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) threshold for consideration.
So, why was it selected?
